Monterey Zoo is fast becoming a world class zoo, with exhibits that give our animals maximum space in the most natural, humane, and mentally stimulating environments possible. Our mission is to provide an entertaining, intimate educational experience that fosters respect and admiration for all wildlife. Thanks to the generosity of private donors like you, we are well on our way to fulfilling our mission and completing Monterey County’s first and only zoo – a special place where families can make memories to last a lifetime.

Commemorative ADA Viewing Windows
Glass Panel Sponsor Donation: $750.00
Please, help us help those in need to enjoy the magic our animals have to offer.
In collaboration with the Our Hero's Dreams organization and our Healing Safari Program to benefit disabled veterans, we've began replacing our wood barriers with glass viewing windows to enable all disabled visitors a more rewarding experience. Coast Counties Glass has generously agreed to provide the glass at costs as well as having donated several panels thus far. Our goal is to replace as many of our barriers as possible with these windows while recognizing those who helped us do so. Those who donate a panel will have their family's or company's name or company's name and message forever engraved on a plaque and proudly displayed on the glass panel they sponsor. A forever way to remember a loved one while benefiting those in our community we are so grateful to and/or those living with a physical challenge.

Habitat Improvments
Your help today is very much needed. Our zoo is not supported by a county or city tax. It is supported by the kind and generous contributions from the community that benefit so greatly from its services. Those contributions are very much needed and appreciated today as we continue to catch-up on maintenance, improve the homes for our animals and continue providing the experiences enjoyed by all who visit.

Oz is Finished!
Lions, tigers, and bears! Oh, my! Our upper level renovation is complete with a new picnic area and restrooms to complement the exciting landscape for our animals. There is nothing more inspiring or important to us than to provide the best environment possible for our animals – and OZ does just that. And it’s just the beginning!
Lower Level
We only recently completed renovations to our lower level and couldn’t be happier with the results! We encourage you to get involved in this amazing adventure – perhaps even sponsor an exhibit! There are several in need of your name or that of your company. Check our our new warthog habitat, cougar habitat, and smaller cat habitats.
Room to Roam
Our alligators and kangaroos are now in their new habitat with the kind of space they’ve never known before.
Monkeying Around
Our baboons and monkeys are without a doubt the happiest in their new habitat, complete with an awesome new heated indoor living quarters.
Birds of a Feather
All our birds are now enjoying their new habitats, a first for Monterey Zoo.

Rainforest-Reptile Exhibit
Our new Rainforest-Reptile Exhibit has fast become our zoo founder/director’s favorite place in the entire zoo. Home to our sloths and both venomous as well as non-venomous reptiles, bugs and amphibians, we could not be more proud of how this exhibit turned out and can’t wait to share it with you.
